What is a Task Dependency?
In some cases, you may be waiting on a specific task to be completed before you can get started on your own work. Perhaps you're waiting on a copywriter to provide the copy for the ad you're designing. Or you may be waiting on some photography to be done before you get started on that poster. Either way, when you depend on something else being done before you can successfully get started on your work, you have a dependent task at hand. Dependent tasks can cause bottlenecks when they are not completed on time or to an appropriate standard.
Admation's task list function highlights dependencies and provides additional measures to chat to the individuals working on those related tasks.
Do I receive notifications for dependent tasks?
Admation will automatically notify you when a dependent task is marked as complete, so that you can get started on your own work. From this email, you will be able to click to view your task.
What's different about a dependent task in admation?
Dependent tasks show in your active task list, regardless of whether or not they have been marked as complete. This way, you can keep track of your task pipeline and what may be coming up. For dependent tasks, you have the ability to see where dependencies lie and the status of the dependent task.
What if someone else is preventing me from starting my dependent task?
You have the added ability to message the task assignee for the dependent task. To message the co-worker working on the dependent task, click the Message Icon next to the dependency information. This button can be useful if a dependent task is causing bottlenecks in your project.
Can I work on a dependent task ahead of time?
If you wish to get started on a dependent task, admation will not prevent you from logging time and marking your tasks off as complete if required, despite the dependency.
Can I view dependent tasks in a calendar view?
Dependencies are shown on the default view in your project resources.
