What's the difference between leave and out of office?
There are two key ways to set a proxy user in admation – via an out of office status and a leave request. The differences between the two in the system are related mostly to functionality, but the option that you use depends on what your management team would prefer you to use.
Requesting leave
Various admation organisations have department managers that can manage tasks, resources and leave in the system. Any leave request is sent through to a department manager for them to approve. That manager then manages all leave, and any changes to the leave in the system.
As a result, when using the request leave function:
- You will not be able to edit or end your leave early
- All requests to edit your leave will need to be actioned by your department manager
If your organisation is not using resources or if you do not have a department manager, you will not be able to submit leave requests in the system.
Out of Office
All organisations in admation have the option to set an out of office status. For quick bursts out of the office or away from your screen, or for those not using resources, you can set and manage your own out of office statuses.
As a result, when using the out of office function:
- Set your own status without approval;
- You will be able to edit or end your leave (and proxy users) once your out of office status has started.
Which one should I use?
Please use each function at your own discretion or ask your management team for appropriate guidance if you are unsure.
