Adding Asset Types and Specifications

How Asset Types are used in admation

Like document types, asset types are used to categorise items in admation. Instead of categorising documents, asset types are used for existing deliverables, ad storage items and asset library files. 

For each deliverable or asset that you upload into the system, like documents, you're required to assign a type. This makes it easier to search and filter items in the system if you ever need to do so. 

Asset Types in admation are kind of a two step process. Unlike document types, asset types can consist of headings and sub-headings. 

Keeping this in mind, a set of asset types might be grouped like this:

• Asset Type: Digital, Social, Traditional 

Within an asset type, you can also have optional sub-asset types. They're like sub-headings. So a social campaign might have the sub-asset types for:

• Facebook Ad
• Instagram Ad
• LinkedIn Ad

Digital may have sub-asset types for:

• eDM 
• Remarketing 
• SEO Ad
• Banner
• Landing Page
• Website

Adding Asset Types to Admation

To create a new asset type in admation, head to the admin bar at the top of your screen. A user will only see the admin button if they have specific permissions. 

Click Asset Types. 

Creating Final Asset Types to Admation

Final asset types are used for categorising deliverables and ad storage items. To create a new final asset in the system, click New Final Asset Type.

Provide a name for your main asset type. You may also use this section to create headings for a group of assets. 

Ensure that your asset is Active and Selectable to ensure that you can select it in the system. Click Save if you're happy leaving your assets at this high-level.

Adding Asset Sub-Types

If you'd like to split your asset into sub-types, click Add New Asset Sub-Type.

This is where you'd split your asset types down further. Continue adding your asset sub-types by clicking this link until you're happy with your inputs. If you've made a mistake, you can click the Delete icon  to remove an asset sub-type.

If you have a heading and asset sub-type structure, you may like to change the toggle for Selectable to No. This would mean that the main asset type (ie Digital) couldn't be selected in the system, however the sub-types could.

Once you're happy with your additions, then click Save. 

Creating Default Specifications for Assets

Default specifications can be added within the admin asset types. Both assets and sub-assets can have their own group of specs. Edit an asset using the pen icon  next to the relevant field.

Under the specifications box, enter your defaults, knowing that users can also edit these on a per-case basis wherever needed. Click Save.

Where will my Final Asset Types be found?

Final asset types are used to categorise any deliverables you've added to admation. You can find your asset types: 

• In your project menu filters 
• In your ad storage filters 
• When you're adding new deliverables to a project and need to select a deliverable type
• On a deliverable as part of its default naming convention
• On a deliverable as its own standalone category, with any default specs you added

Creating Library Asset Types to Admation

Library asset types are used for categorising the assets you'd find in your Asset Library. To create a new library asset in the system, click New Library Asset Type. Follow the instructions above to add your library asset types – logos and stock imagery are common asset types found here.

You will find any library asset types in the filters on your asset library when searching your library for assets, or when adding new assets to your library directly.

Creating Document Asset Types to Admation

Adding Sub-Types to an Existing Asset

To add sub-types to an existing asset, click the pen icon   from the list of existing assets. Click Add a New Asset Sub-Type and remember to Save once you're done. 

Deleting Assets and Asset Sub-Types from the Main Screen

If you'd like to delete an entire asset group altogether, select the checkbox for the item/s you'd like to delete. Then click the greyed out delete icon  at the top of your screen. Even though it's greyed out, you'll still be able to delete the items. Follow the prompts to confirm your selection.

You can do the same thing to remove sub-types. Click the plus icon  to reveal your sub-types. select the checkbox for the item/s you'd like to delete. Then click the greyed out delete icon  at the top of your screen.
